Corner Pyrmont Bridge Road &, Bank St, Sydney NSW 2009
A few stops from Sydney’s Central Train Station, taking the light rail, is a market where you purchase fresh seafood produce, consume an assortment of seafood dishes. The Sydney Fish Market.
Inside the market is a fast food setup where a variety of fried, baked and boiled dishes are laid out for you to consume
I’ve already been there a few times and this the first occasion I am writing about it. Why? I believe the reason is, I being there often times enough, I might have thought this place is not that special at all. Well, it is. It is a Sydney icon anyway.

I’m a sucker for oysters and the first thing I go for would be oyster involved dishes. Although I prefer the fresh served kind, the mornay and, the kilpatrick are more than welcome. Coupled with chips, calamari and grilled barramundi, it is a very satisfying meal.
In the fast food area, there is a line of stalls all serving the same thing, mostly the same anyway. There is one I always go to. I think it’s called the Pyrmont Cafe. Why?Their food does not look dry. It looks like it’s just been cooked minutes ago, maybe it was, maybe it’s not. The food is enjoyable, tasty and filling. There are tables and chairs indoors and outdoors and it gets pretty busy especially at lunchtime. So, if you want to be seated straight away it would be better if you arrive around 11 am at lunchtime or else you’ll end up stretching your necks and going back and forth with a tray of food in your hands trying to find a seat.
The cost? For a dozen tasty mornays, a decent amount of calamari, a generous serving of chips and a big slice of grilled barramundi the cost was $88.
In Sydney? Hungry? Got a few cash to spare? Love seafood? This is the place to be.
Enjoy your meal.
